How do I remove an episode?

If you no longer want an episode on your podcast, there are two ways to remove it. Unpublishing an episode removes it from podcast directories and your Buzzsprout Website, but keeps it safely stored in your Buzzsprout account. Deleting an episode permanently removes it from your account and everywhere else. We'll go through both options here!

Unpublish an Episode

To remove an episode from public platforms but keep it in your Buzzsprout account, unpublish it.
  1. Click into the episode from your Episodes page.
  2. On the right-hand side of the page, you'll see an Episode is Live box.

Delete an Episode

If you want to permanently delete an episode, follow these steps:
  1. In your Buzzsprout account, go to the Episodes page.
  2. Click the episode you want to delete.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the right sidebar and click Delete This Episode. CleanShot 2026-08-06 at 10.07.01@2x.png
Once you confirm that you'd like to delete the episode, we will permanently delete it from your Buzzsprout account.

When will the episode be removed from my listings?

As soon as you unpublish or delete an episode from Buzzsprout, we'll remove it from your RSS feed. Podcast directories will remove the episode the next time they check your feed for updates. Since each directory checks on its own schedule, this can take a few minutes or a few hours.

What if I don't see the delete button?

There are a couple of reasons why you might not see the Delete This Episode button:
  • Check Your User Role - Only the Owner and Admins on a Buzzsprout account can delete episodes. If you're an Editor, you won't see the delete option. Check out more about our team members and user roles.
  • Finish Any Cohost AI Updates - If your episode was processed with Cohost AI, you'll need to accept the suggested updates before you can delete it. Click Save and Update Episode, and once the update is complete, the Delete This Episode option will appear at the bottom of the right sidebar.
