Buzzsprout Transcript Editor
Transcripts can enhance both the accessibility and discoverability of your podcast, and we’re here to help you use them! Buzzsprout Transcripts will generate transcripts for your episodes, and you'll have access to our editor, where you can review and make any necessary changes.
Creating Your Episode Transcript
When you click into each episode, you'll see a "Transcript is Ready" text on the right-hand side of the page, with an "Edit" button below. Click this to use the Buzzsprout Transcripts editor!
Note: Buzzsprout transcripts will only be available on our current paid plans. If you're on the free plan or a retired plan, you can upgrade your account by going to Settings > Subscription > Plan!
Using the Transcript Editor
Click into the transcript to edit the text. Double-click a word to select it, or select a phrase and type your correction. Hover over a toolbar icon to see what it does.
Saving your changes
Autosave is on by default. It saves after you pause typing and periodically while you keep editing. The green checkmark in the upper-right corner changes to a spinning arrow with Saving while a save is in progress.
When you finish, click the checkmark to save any remaining changes and return to your episode. You can also click the spinning arrow; the editor will finish saving before you leave. If a save fails, keep the editor open and use the retry button.
Prefer to save manually? Open Shortcuts using the question mark in the toolbar and turn off Autosave. The editor remembers this preference in your browser. With Autosave off, click Save to save your changes, then Done to leave.
Autocorrect
Save recurring corrections, such as buzz sprout → Buzzsprout, so you don't have to make the same edit in every episode.
- Make a correction in the transcript.
- When Add to autocorrect? appears above your edit, click the green checkmark to save it. Click the X to dismiss the offer and keep only your text edit.
- Other matching words in the current transcript update immediately. A confirmation tells you how many additional replacements were made.
Saved corrections apply automatically when new transcripts are generated for this podcast. They don't change your other existing episode transcripts.
Capitalization must match the original words: a rule for buzz sprout won't match Buzz Sprout. Corrections match complete words or phrases, not part of a longer word.
To manage your corrections, click Autocorrect in the toolbar (the book with an A). Enter the original in Replace and the correction in With, then click Add to autocorrect. You can also edit an entry and click Update, or delete an entry. Updating or deleting a saved rule doesn't reverse text already corrected.
Tip: While an Autocorrect offer is open above your edit, press Tab to focus Add, then Tab again to focus Dismiss. Press Enter or Space to choose.

- Click the magnifying glass, or press ⌘F on Mac or Ctrl+F on Windows. Enter a word or phrase in Find. Matching text is highlighted in light green; the current match has a stronger green highlight.
- Use the up and down buttons to move between matches. The count inside the input shows your current match and the total.
- Click Replace with…, or press Tab from a populated Find field, and enter the replacement.
- Click the green Replace button beside a match to change that occurrence, or click Replace All to change every match.
After Replace All, you'll see the number of replacements and an Undo link for the whole batch. You can also add the correction to Autocorrect for new transcripts. Click Done to return to empty Find and Replace fields.
The clear X empties both fields. Click outside the popover or click the magnifying glass again to close it. Press Escape to close it and return to your place in the transcript.

Speakers and chapters
Click the speaker initials in the toolbar to manage speakers. Preview a voice, update the name, then click Save Speakers to apply your changes. Cancel discards changes in that window. To change the speaker for one section, use the speaker dropdown above that section.
Use Add Chapter at a paragraph boundary, then type the chapter title. To create a boundary within a paragraph, place your cursor there and press Enter. Edit chapter titles directly in the transcript. To remove a chapter, empty its title and press Backspace or Delete once more.
Chapters appear in a list on the left when there's room, and as green bookmarks above the audio progress bar. Click a bookmark to play from that chapter. Adding, renaming, or removing a chapter updates these controls as you edit.
Listen while you edit
Use the player at the bottom of the editor to listen, scrub through the episode, or adjust playback speed. To listen from a particular word, double-click it and choose Play from here…. Double-clicking alone selects the word for editing.
Press Space to pause or resume when you're outside a text field. While typing in the transcript or another field, Space inserts a space. If you've scrolled away from the playing audio, use Jump to Play Position to return to it.
Undo, downloads, and shortcuts
Use the toolbar's Undo and Redo arrows to step through transcript edits. The Download menu exports your transcript as TXT, SRT, or VTT.
Open the question mark for Editing Shortcuts, Find & Replace Shortcuts, and General Tips. A few useful shortcuts:
- ⌘S / Ctrl+S: Save without leaving the editor.
- ⌘Z / Ctrl+Z: Undo. Add Shift to redo.
- Enter in Replace: Replace the current match.
- ⌘Enter / Ctrl+Enter in Replace: Replace all matches.
